  1. This is actually super helpful, I hope people can find this and use it!
    Nice work lovey!!!

  2. Hi friends,
Here are some quick vocal tips that even the most beginning singer can try!
Happy singing & I’ll see you all next Thursday!

  3. This may be an odd question, but how do you get beyond the negative mind
set of “I can’t sing or singing is just not my thing?” I’ve always wanted
to sing for fun, but I’m always doubting myself and telling myself I can’t.

  5. This is awesome….. but I’m still way off key. Cant sing worth anything.
    LOL

  6. Evynne what advise would you and Peter give to a aging babyboomer who was
actively singing up to 7 years ago as a singer and soloist at my church,
(Aria Every Valley from Handel’s Messiah in my repetroir) who has endured
some medical set backs in the past five years and is concerned about the
lack of tone and even range loss from the medical matters? Singing has
always been the height of joy for me both in learning the songs then in
performing them for others to be blessed by. It’s not a lot of fun seeing
the damage that has been done to my voice and not wanting to sing when the
performance will not meet my self imposed expected level of proficency. I
don’t want to hang up the vocal chords just yet and wonder what I can do to
delay losing even more of my voice. .

  7. I found this very helpful, Evynne. I have a BA in vocal music performance
and so much of what you said reminded me of my lessons from my vocal coach
    in college.

  8. Could you do a Lesson on expanding your range. I have trouble hitting the
    high notes and holding them.

  9. Your camera presence is awesome! Confident, comfortable and enjoying what
you do. Its fun to watch!

  10. evynne i did the chin one and it WORKED thank you and i have skype but i
wanted to ask can we be friends on there and talk once in a while? just
    askin

  11. I don’t know but i feel stranged in my neck. I don’t know what i’m doing
    wrong.

  12. Might I request more of these. Also give us a song to sing together. Maybe
4 to 6 singers in a group (sort of a mini Eric Whitacer choral thing). I
think it would be interesting and fun to see if enough people play along
and if we create anything beautiful. Anyway it’s just an idea. Even a
simple song like row row row your boat sung as a round (for the harmonies)
    would be cool.

  13. Through out all the voice lessons on youtube that I have seen, she makes
    singing fun!!!! Haha

  14. Great video Evynne really helpful keep up the great work. You have a
wonderful voice and deserve more recognition for it. Hope you and Peter
both have a bright future in music and in raising Ashland.

  15. Hahahaha I still can’t hit the high notes without sounding off-key T.T

Can you do a more in-depth one?

  16. How much do you charge for Skype Lessons an hour? I am looking for a voice
teacher and am very interested in your teaching me.

  17. Oh I really appreciate this video I love to sing. Ever since I was little
my mom and I would have to drive a half hour to an hour to do food shopping
every week and we would just sing and sing the whole way and she was so
awesome 🙂 we would repeat song if I hit the wrong note and try again she
was just awesome 🙂 I always wanted true singing lessons but 🙁 couldn’t
afford it. I have been following you for awhile now and all your vlogs have
truly helped me in many ways. I just want to say thank you! OK wow long
story so hopefully u stuck with me and have read this far lol because I
want to say I hope u definitely definitely do more of these !!!!! 🙂 You
are a wonderful person thank you for all u do ! OK bye 🙂

  18. I loved this video, Evynne! I’ve had years of lessons, and your tips are
the same ones I would highlight. For another voice lesson video, you could
talk specifically about vowel shapes when singing. Singing pretty vowels is
something I’ve noticed is lacking in a lot of beginners, usually those who
are trying to sing Top 40 type music. I think a lot of people could benefit
    from that.
    All the best!

  19. I love this idea! I’ve been in choir for almost 6 years, and I am just now
starting to get better with the whole, tall vowels, and breathing, and when
I audition for a solo I’m learning to relax, and not worry because my voice
always cracked, but it’s starting to become more like what I sound like in
the actual choir, and my teacher is so happy that I’m getting over my fear
of singing in front of people :D

  20. Also when you’re going for those higher notes lift your eyebrows and have
your mouth form an “o” shape

  21. I love this warmup. I begin my day with 20 minutes yoga, then I do this
warmup and finish with a more advanced warmup for sopranos if I am going to
sing during the day. This warmup is great if you need to get ready to work
on scripts and lines as an actor 🙂

  22. I love how gentle this warm-up is. I am recovering from a vocal strain and
it’s the perfect daily exercise to do without over-working my voice. Thank
    you!

  23. Again a wonderful warm up. Thank you. resonance in upper register clearer

  24. Jeff just gave me a free 30 plus 8 minute -analysis of my voice where he
confirmed my concerns as well as provided ways to work on the problems. He
knows what he is doing….and he CAN sing while some coaches can’t or won’t
sing. At the end of the consultation, he sent me a summary of what we did.
I can work on the music on my own:) He is one of the BEST FEW
coaches/teachers/instructors who is genuinely interested in the singer. I
am glad that I ran into his YouTube videos. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jeff Rolka.

  25. My voice naturally turns falsetto when getting into the higher notes in
these exercises. As a male vocalist, is it bad to practice that for my
    voice?

  26. Hi Jeff, thank you so much for your excellent videos. What is the
teaching technique that you are using?
I like to know what is your location? I teach all day in other words I use
my voice all day and is not easy. I was taking voice lesson before, but I
noticed it was hurting my voice. So, I am cautious about the different
    methods available.
    Thank you

  27. Thank you very much for your video.I live in French west indies., in
Guadeloupe.I am readind the Richard Miller’s book.I am very happy to
improve my voice with your free exercices.

  28. This was a wonderful warm up. I studied vocal performance and pedagogy and
haven’t been able to sing for almost 3 years now. This is such a lovely
warm up. Thank you so much for making these things available. :)

  29. hey jeff, love this warm up thanks so much, i do it everyday. as soon as i
get paid for the first gig i do with my new band i’ll buy a recording!
thanks so much for all your vids..!

  30. Also, I just got to the end of this video and, once I get out of debt (in a
few months) I will definitely help you out, man. I can tell you’re not in
it for the money; that being said, a man’s gotta eat. I’ll help you out
    when I can. :)

  31. Jeff, you save me soooo much money. As someone else said, your videos are
invaluable. Thank you so much for doing these.

  32. I just came acrossed your channel. And your warm ups are great and I see
your have free voice jhelp. I just wanna say that’s really cool of you. I
need the help. im a good singer, but I need warm ups and to work on certain
things I haven’t been able to practice since chorus in highschool. im
only a few years out and I really wanna pursue singing atleast on the side
and sound my best. so this is getting lengthy but I appreciate your videos
    !(:

  33. This is great! Thank you so much! I did feel like I could have gone a lot
higher, though. Any chance you might upload a warm up that goes
    even higher? :)

  34. Tempo, agility excercise also. Don’t need mezzo-soprano warm-up, thanks for
the offer, this one goes very well. Normally in choir I don’t reach high D
(DIIII?), sometimes not: depends on goed warming up, in choir not always
available though. (sing there alto voice). Thanks for the nice warm video
    also!

  35. Are the notes you’re playing of the exact same pitch that sopranos should
sing as they’re doing these exercises? They seem a bit low for the range of
sopranos xD Nonetheless, so far, I find your techniques really helpful 🙂
    Thanks for these videos!
